Security & Network Specialist
On behalf of our client, Procom is currently seeking a Security & Network Specialist to assist their security team with daily network and security operations as well as working on some security initiatives and projects. The individual should have very solid knowledge and understanding of enterprise networks, OSI 7-layer model, various technologies deployed in cybersecurity, such as firewall, IPS, secure email gateway, endpoint protection (EDR) etc.
Security & Network Specialist Job Duties:
- Monitor network activities and produce network performance and metrics reports using SolarWinds network performance monitor software.
- Troubleshoot and root cause analysis of network related issues.
- Monitor potential phishing emails reported by the users and respond accordingly.
- Monitor security dashboard. Observe any anomalies and respond accordingly or escalate to Senior Information Security Engineer or the team leader.
- Assist with remediations of application and system vulnerabilities from the penetration test results.
- Provide security advise and suggestions to IT operations team, and may be involved in some system administration work
- Assist with the team on security projects and initiatives, such as deploying virtual firewall and network segmentation in VMware environment.
- Develops status reports at regular intervals to ensure the Leader is informed of achievements and challenges
- Update documentation on existing network infrastructure and security controls when needed
- Knowledge transfer / training as required to continue any projects and tasks that the contractor is working on
Security & Network Specialist Mandatory Skills:
- Strong working knowledge on both Linux-based and Microsoft Windows-based system platforms.
- Solid understanding of OSI 7-layer network model.
- Hands on experience of configuring enterprise network switches
- Strong knowledge and experience with IP network designs, including firewalls, network security tools (IDS, WAF), routers and switches. Strong understanding of TCP/IP and other common network protocols
- Experience with configuring modern layer-7 firewall.
- Experience with configuration management system, group policies, encryption technology, secure communication
- Knowledge of vulnerability discovery tools, such as NMAP, Burp Suite, or OWASP Zap, or equivalent.
- Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment
- Bachelor's degree in computer science and 5-7 years of experience in IT, involving security and network functions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
