The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Clerk Typist III to join our team of professionals in the Recreation Division. Reporting to the Manager, Administration and Business Services and the Business Support Supervisor, in this unionized position you will provide administrative support by providing supervisory support and improving and creating new work procedures and forms. This position will appeal to a fast paced, detail-oriented, independent and well-organized individual with a superior clerical aptitude.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, assign, review and participate in the routine work of a group of business support employees
- Provide positive and excellent customer service and perform clerical work of a lead hand nature
- Improve and create new work procedures/forms and oversee and maintain a large volume of records
- Open and sort incoming correspondence and distribute accordingly as required
- Process program registrations, various payment transactions and prepare daily revenue reports/deposit slips
- Act as receptionist/customer service representative and interpret/explain rules, regulations and procedures as required
- Perform related work as required
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses in typing and standard commercial subjects plus considerable supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Considerable knowledge of office practices/procedures and extensive computer skills including proficiency in typing, word and excel are essential
- Knowledge of the applicable rules and regulations as it relates to departmental activities
- Ability to assign, review, lead and participate in the work others
- Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public under varying conditions
This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a Police Information Check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).
