As a member of the University Events team, you will be instrumental in helping create a unique and distinct experience for our graduates by creating memorable convocation ceremonies as well as working on creating inspiring events for the President's Office. This will be accomplished by working closely with the Manager, University Events and participating in the North American Association for Commencement Officers events and webinars to gain insight to help create dynamic visions and gain the knowledge and support needed to carry out the events. You will be leading areas of convocation, Presidents office events such as President's perspective and new employee breakfasts, working with the Indigenous Student Services on their larger ceremonies and events. This role will also work alongside the rest of the University Events team on other university events, specifically supporting DAR and Human Resources. We are looking for someone to help us continue to create unique and memorable convocation ceremonies and inspiring events for the President's Office to provide exceptional experiences for our employee and student community. You will work with a team of talented University Events staff, an engaged community and an impactful executive team.

What you'll do
- Creating and implementing structures required to ensure successful delivery, coordination, budget management, execution and evaluation of the University's convocation program. This includes following processes, procedures and best practices
- Liaising and working collaboratively with a wide range of departments, service areas and vendors (e.g. procurement, facilities, food services, communications and marketing, etc.) to ensure all components of the event program (e.g. venue, food services, entertainment, media relations, speech writing, audio visual presentations, etc.) are effectively implemented
- Responsible for developing and adhering to event budgets while sourcing, securing and organizing suppliers and vendors
- Ensuring assigned ceremony and event timelines are adhered to by tracking progress of tasks and responsibilities of the people involved within the events, follows up when required and escalates issues as necessary
What you'll bring
- Completion of two years (approximately 60 credits) of post-secondary education in a related field supplemented by courses or training in event planning or project management.
- Three years of directly related work experience in communications, marketing, or event management. Experience must include event management/planning and or project management.

Days and Hours of Work
Our standard work week is Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm. This position may include evening and weekend work.
